Description
Our clients desired a distinctive work of architecture expressive of our time while reflecting their Japanese American heritage. Evoking the Asian arts of origami (paper folding) and shoji (sliding screens) to achieve this goal, an all-embracing roof composed of one continuous surface floats above the ground. It simultaneously shapes and responds to the character of the spaces it shelters. Under the continuous dynamic roof many apparently disparate design elements are woven into a rich and harmonious composition. The design integrates architecture and interiors to form a seamless continuity.
