Design Philosophy

I believe in a holistic approach to design, in which every creative decision reinforces a larger move, and the culmination of these choices produces a rich and highly specific architecture. The design process unfolds as a question, or a series of questions, which serve to articulate the confluence of client needs and project constraints.

Underlying my designs is a belief that architecture should respond to and reinforce the character of its surroundings. I work collaboratively with my design team and consultants to identify the contextual cues that give rise to a site specific approach for each project.

I never focus on a particular style of architecture; instead I work organically towards the best design solution for the project. My body of work is varied but could be summarized as warm modernism - blending the clean lines and pragmatism of modern design with the richness of natural materials to create highly functional work and living spaces.

In all of my work, I look to natural light, and the unique characteristics of materials to guide the creation of environments that are both and comfortable and inspiring.
