855 SF Residential Addition. The nature-inspired sculptural retreat is nestled in a canyon of trees. A dominant cube and a lower volume divide the program components. The smaller volume serves as a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom wing while the larger cube creates a peaceful open space for study and repose. Cross ventilation over a pond at the entrance provides for natural cooling as a secondary cement panel skin reduces heat gain.
