As light is cast through an object, shadows become distorted simulations of the object that created them. A transformation occurs in the reading and understanding of the original object as seen through the distorted shadow. The object and shadow co-exist and become boundaries between which a resonance occurs. It is in this interstitial space that new life and meaning is given to both.
It has been our intention to discover and reveal this kind of interstitial space between various boundaries through the transformation of place.
Whether new construction or a conversion and re-use of an existing place, transformation occurs through the intervention of a gesture. Rather than inserting foreign objects into a context, it has been our intent to study and understand the existing context and subsequently reveal the beauties that already exist through the process of transformation. In essence, it is our intent to make visible what is invisible.
