- Meersburg, Germany
Bold contrast. The New Palace in Meersburg towers majestically above picturesque vineyards and the impressive blue waters of Lake Constance. This original baroque residence is still as beautiful now as when it was built in 1710. Its stately architecture and furnishings are impressive, with arched gables and rich ornaments outside and fantastic stucco and glorious frescoes inside. From autumn 2010 to spring 2012, the museum was extensively renovated by the State of Baden-Württemberg, represented by Vermögen und Bau Baden-Württemberg, Ravensburg office. The aim was to improve the presentation of the castle as a location for receptions, conferences and events. This vision required a barrier-free development of the building, a modernization of the conference and kitchen areas as well as the sanitary rooms. The refurbishing covered the external facade facing the lake and included stone masonry works and repainting. After 18 months of construction, Meersburg New Palace offers a stylish café on 1,980 square meters of usable space, rooms for conferences, events, temporary exhibitions and a newly designed museum that focuses on the life of the prince-bishops in Meersburg. In order to create a striking contrast to the early architecture of the building, rosconi supplied the modern wardrobes, which are used both for the public and for the presentation of historical costumes.
