Domingo Gonzalez has been practicing lighting design for the last 38 years, serving as the lead designer on over 1,500 projects worldwide. His varied background in architecture, interior and product design has facilitated a broad range of built work on a diverse range of projects, encompassing transportation, civic/cultural, hospitality, healthcare, historic preservation, parks, streetscapes, education, corporate facilities and master planning.
Domingo graduated from the City College of New York with a B.S. degree in Architecture. Since 1991 he has been on the faculty of the School of Architecture (adjunct) teaching lighting design, and has lectured on the topic at various institutions around the country. He has served on the IESNA School and College Facilities committee, was a contributing author to the IES Recommended Practice 3-00 Lighting for Educational Facilities and authored the chapter on lighting design considerations for “Building Type Basics for Transit Facilities” (2004).
In 2001 Domingo was named LDI Architectural Lighting Designer of the Year, and in 2003 Domingo received the CCNY Distinguished Alumni award. He has also received numerous awards from the IIDA and IES, GE (Edison Award) and New York City Landmarks Conservancy (Lucy G. Moses Award). As Principal In Charge at DGA, Domingo has overseen numerous major projects.
Vice President / Project Manager
Formerly the owner of AC Hickox Lighting Design, AC has over 30 years’ experience in design and project management in both performing arts and architectural lighting design. Since the merger of ACH/LD with DGA in 1999, AC’s focus has been on large-scale, fast-track and/or complex efforts in transportation, security, exterior and theatre facility projects. She has served on the faculties of Teachers College-Columbia and University of Illinois at Urbana, lectured at CCNY and is an authorized instructor of AGi32. AC is a principal of DGA, is Lighting Certified and a LEED Accredited Professional with BD+C specialty.
Sherry holds a degree in lighting design from the Parsons School of Design and joined DGA in 2004 to pursue her career objective in the field of architectural lighting design. Prior to joining DGA, Sherry had experience as an interior designer in Taiwan and China, as well as several years’ experience with other lighting design firms in New York. Since joining DGA, her projects encompass schools, offices, courtrooms, streetscapes, bridges, and rail stations. Sherry's extensive background in lighting design and computer applications has made her an invaluable asset to the firm.
While attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Nancy joined DGA as a part-time intern in 2004 to pursue her career objective in the field of architectural lighting design. In 2005, with a Bachelors in Architecture, she joined DGA full-time as a Junior Designer. During her 11 years at DGA she has managed to transition through many roles, most recently becoming a Senior Associate in 2015. Nancy’s extensive project experience have included transportation, courthouses, schools, offices, public parks, memorials, and master plans, making her an invaluable asset to the firm.
Ilva joined DGA in 2007 as an Intern, while working toward a Bachelor of Architecture degree at the City College of New York (CCNY). After transitioning to a full-time basis as Junior Designer in June 2011 Ilva has pursued her career objective in the field of architectural lighting design rising in 2015 to the position of Senior Designer. In addition to numerous academic accolades and her DGA experience, Ilva has also worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Lighting & Acoustics class at the City College of New York and is now a co-instructor. Ilva’s excellent design experience and broad skill set – including Photoshop, AutoCAD and lighting control design - have made her an invaluable asset to DGA on numerous projects.
Phat joined DGA in 2011, after receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. His academic studies included creating interior and exterior designs for hotels, office buildings, and residences, as well as a semester studying in Tokyo, Japan. With his exceptional broad spectrum of design abilities and skills – including hand drawing, CAD, rendering, graphic design, and 3D modeling Phat has become an integral member of the DGA team and plays a critical role on several key projects.
Angela holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and joined DGA in 2014 to pursue her career objective in the field of architectural lighting design. With professional lighting design experience, as well as architecture / planning internship experience, Angie’s design, CAD, and communications skills make her an invaluable addition to the DGA team. Since recently joining DGA, Angela has provided substantial contributions to numerous projects.
BIM / Visualization Designer
Samantha joined DGA in late 2015. Building upon her prior background at several architecture firms in the Dominican Republic, Samantha is exceptionally fluent in, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino and Photoshop applications. She will extend DGA’s capabilities in 3D management and visualization, renderings and calculation enhancement.
Bipin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Conciecao Rodrigues Institute of Technology in India and a Master of Science degree in Architectural Lighting Design from the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. Prior to joining DGA, Bipin garnered years of lighting design experience in California and India. Bipin’s comprehensive interdisciplinary educational background, coupled with his diverse combination of computational and practical experience in architectural lighting design, makes him an invaluable addition to the DGA team.
Berk joined DGA in mid-2016 and has rapidly become an asset on many project teams with his extensive knowledge of lighting design. Berk has expertise with AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, Sketchup, Vectorworks and Photoshop.
