As glittery as its name, Silver Line’s 5 new Phase 1 stations glow at night with angular elegance articulated by signature lighting elements seemingly born of the architecture. Soaring over traffic through N. Virginia, the line celebrates the sustainable triumph of rail transit in an era of low investment in infrastructure. 15,000 riders daily enjoy a better commute welcomed by distinctive stations featuring efficient and thoughtful lighting, designed around GE’s jacketed T8 lamps that withstand the cool airflow of the stations’ lofty volumes. From concept design in 2003 to stations’ openings the goal was to maintain design integrity while continuing to satisfy evolving Owner concerns.
