Revision of an existing land-use plan. The airfield in Böblingen has been developed on the site of the first airport in Baden-Württemberg. After decades of military usage, the site was refurbished from 2006 to 2008 and gradually developed since. The project for the construction sites 8, 9 and 10 conforms to the strictly geometrical specifications of the land-use plan. In order to improve the urban quality, the buildings seem to dissolve towards the centrally located park. On the single construction sites, the new buildings develop freely so that their positioning and shape can react to spatial relations, visual axes and direct sunlight. In addition to the horizontal dissolution towards the park, a clearly discernible topography of the buildings was introduced, which made it possible to concentrate the exterior spaces and give the quarter an internal tension and spatial quality.
